Jared Lorenz is an end-to-end creator of linear video stories and a collaborator on digital experiences. His experience began in news and documentary, then in corporate, commercial, and most recently in long form, music videos, fine art and digital media.
He received a BA in English and Communications Studies from the University of Calgary and began freelancing in the independent media after short stints coordinating in agency-side Advertising, then later in client-side Marketing and Communications. He holds a micro-certification from Sheridan College’s Continuing and Professional Studies as an Unreal Engine on-set technician and is a graduate researcher at Toronto Metropolitan University, researching how designers create multi-device interactions in room-scale interactive experiences. He co-creates mixed reality experiences and works as a daily Camera Operator, Steadicam Operator, Digital Imaging Technician, and Unreal Engine On-Set Technician for Virtual Productions.
Jared is an Ontario Creates Green Screen Ambassador. In 2012, Jared launched a program in downtown Toronto where media production expertise and equipment arrive on location by cargo bicycle. Since that time, the team has delivered support by bike, transit and train to hundreds of productions around the Greater Toronto Area, now encompassing city-permitted union productions supported by cargo bike. That pilot has become Cycling Cinematographers, a growing group of media technicians who share equipment and expertise, and sell specialized cargo bikes and accessories to media workers.
Jared is a husband, dad and lifetime learner.
